Before and After Rust

That was before I tore into this mess.

It’s been a little over a year since I bought my Datsun Roadster, and I’ve made a lot of progress! Hopefully going to be driving her before summer starts!

Since the last installment, I’ve been working on the door pillars, rockers, cowl, and fenders.

And that’s the way she goes folks! I’m fairly happy with the work, and I’m excited to soon be driving something that I build with my bare hands. Next mess I’ll be tackling is the wheel wells, and then my custom dashboard.

Did you use MIG or TIG or combo of both?

How many hours do you think total so far?

Thanks! I’ve been using MIG with flux core, hoping to learn TIG at some point, but I just picked up welding out of necessity of restoring this car. I don’t even think I could count the hours, haha, probably an average of 4 hours a day 7 days a week since probably last July?

Dude! You’ve done amazing work fab and welding work! What size wire are you welding with?

I drove my roadster for the first time last weekend. Still have some bugs to work out but it was great. I just ordered a nearly full interior kit from Dean.

Hey man! Thank you so much! I’m welding with flux core wire, and I believe it’s .032 but I’m not totally sure.

I’m so jealous that you’re driving around already, I’m very anxious to drive mine. Are you going to the Chicago Oppo meet?

It’s August 6-7, there was a post about it a while ago, and there’s a group on the Facebook Opposite Lock page, if you’re a part of that. I live in Canada, but I’m gonna meet up with Cletus44 and we’re hopefully gonna be driving down to meet up with some cool peeps!

Yeah man! Unfortunately I won’t have my Roadster there, or my Jaguar, because I don’t think it would be a good idea to drive it that far after just getting it on the road.
